About The Position

The Facilities Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of the club’s buildings, equipment, and systems. This role ensures that all areas of the clubhouse and surrounding infrastructure are functional, safe, and well-maintained to support daily operations and to deliver an exceptional experience for members, guests, and staff. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in general maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and preventative maintenance. They bring a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and a commitment to teamwork, communication, innovation, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Working knowledge of general maintenance trades: HVAC, plumbing electrical, carpentry, and appliance repair
  • Proficient with power tools and basic hand tools
  • Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions and respond to service calls promptly
  • Skilled in floor and lock repair, window glass replacement, and drywall/tile work
  • Familiarity with safety practices, occupational hazards, and emergency procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and manage multiple projects
  • Comfortable using work order systems and maintenance tracking software
  • Performing tasks that require physical strength, mobility, and stamina in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, and varying weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and humidity
  • Frequently exposed to fumes, dust, airborne particles, and cleaning agents; may encounter toxic or caustic chemicals in controlled applications
  • Occasionally required to work in elevated or confined spaces, on ladders, rooftops, or scaffolding, and in areas with risk of electrical shock or vibration
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs independently and occasionally assist with heavier loads using appropriate equipment or team support
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time; able to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to access tight spaces or equipment; able to climb stairs and ladders frequently; reach overhead and work with arms extended above shoulder height; perform repetitive motions, including use of hands and fingers to operate tools and machinery
  • Must have visual acuity to safely operate power tools and inspect facilities and systems
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations, including after-hours or weekend calls, when needed

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary vocational/technical training in HVAC, refrigeration, or electrical engineering, preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a commercial, institutional, or hospitality setting, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Attends departmental meetings to stay aligned with team priorities and communicate effectively with leadership
  • Completes assignments as directed by the Director of Facilities, contributing to team success
  • Collaborates with other departments to support timely repairs and club functions
  • Assists with training of maintenance staff when needed
  • Maintains work order database and logs maintenance activities
  • Coordinates with outside contractors and vendors when needed for repairs or installations
  • Assists with planning and estimating facility repair or improvement projects, including obtaining quotes and coordinating timeline with vendors
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, local building codes, and healthy/safety regulations by maintaining records
  • Notifies supervisors of maintenance issues and parts needed for repairs
  • Understands and performs required roles during emergency situations and communicates appropriately
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance as scheduled to reduce equipment downtime
  • Installs tile and drywall, patches walls, makes grouting repairs and masonry repairs
  • Repairs locks, replaces window glass, performs carpentry, and supports elevator and ventilation systems
  • Maintains and services HVAC systems, refrigerators, ice makers, and pool pumps
  • Monitors and maintains fire, phone, data, music, cable, and TV systems
  • Repairs small motors and keeps current with techniques that improve maintenance efficiency
  • Performs general maintenance on plumbing fixtures, furniture, woodwork, electrical systems, and appliances
  • Maintains and enhances club aesthetics through floor maintenance, tile installation, and structural upkeep
  • Supports the housekeeping department and fills in for security/on-call coverage when required
  • Demonstrates professionalism and takes pride in maintaining high facility standards
