About The Position

As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing facilities. You'll ensure optimal operation of building systems and infrastructure while supporting our mission to enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You will lead facility engineering-driven maintenance and improvement initiatives, managing critical building systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment. This role focuses on driving reliability, performance, and continuous improvement across facility infrastructure, with opportunities to implement innovative solutions that enhance operational effectiveness. This individual serves as the technical leader for maintenance engineering, bridging daily operations with capital and improvement projects to ensure continuity, scalability, and regulatory compliance across site facilities. As a high-impact individual contributor, the role transforms maintenance through proactive engineering-driven initiatives, strengthening system resilience, performance, and scalability to support business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of relevant experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job
  • Advanced knowledge of facility systems: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and automation
  • Proven experience leading facility improvement or capital projects
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and building automation systems
  • Experience and knowledge of basic computer skills
  • May need to climb ladders for roof access
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment while carrying out work tasks
  • Must be able to wear fall protection
  • Lead through technical expertise and influence
  • Exhibits strong analytical and critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly across stakeholders

  • Able to plan for contingencies to overcome obstacles, setbacks and uncertainties to ensure delivery of results
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn and adapt to new tactics and strategies
  • Comfort with ambiguity and effectiveness during periods of uncertainty and change

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in GMP or regulated environments preferred
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Facilities Management, or related technical field

Responsibilities

  • Lead troubleshooting of complex system failures across electrical, mechanical, and controls systems
  • Drive root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions for recurring system issues
  • Serve as the maintenance point of contact and liaison for capital and continuous improvement initiatives, partnering with Facilities, Projects, and Compliance to support site upgrades, expansions, and infrastructure improvements
  • Drive execution of facility improvement and reliability work across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and controls systems, ensuring alignment with maintenance strategy and operational needs
  • Act as technical lead and subject matter expert for maintenance engineering
  • Establish and improve preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Identify and eliminate single points of failure in critical systems (e.g., controls, utilities)
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to maintenance staff and contractors
  • Partner with Quality and EHS to maintain compliance with internal and external standards
  • Ensure all work aligns with GMP, quality, and regulatory requirements
  • Daily operational support and other duties as needed or assigned.
