About The Position

Newnan Utilities is currently seeking a full-time Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our Team! The Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining and improving all Newnan Utilities’ grounds, including building maintenance, mowing, trimming, various landscaping services, event set-up, and clean-up, and performing a variety of tasks to support the operations of Newnan Utilities.

Requirements

Communicates clearly and effectively to others to be understood by all while utilizing strong listening skills to remain open to others’ ideas
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
Proven time management skills and prioritizes appropriately to meet deadlines
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and manuals
Ability to understand and follow safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment such as masks, goggles, gloves, and other safety equipment
Ability to safely operate various tools and equipment such as but not limited to power tools, landscaping equipment (such as a zero-turn lawn mower, grass trimmer, blower, chainsaw, etc.), and other trade tools
Comprehensive knowledge of trade tools and of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and regulations pertaining to grounds maintenance
Must be 18 years or older
1-3 years’ landscaping experience
1-3 years’ grounds maintenance experience preferred
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Valid State Driver’s License, including MVR, that is deemed acceptable by the company
Knowledge of building maintenance such as replacing lights, painting, minor repairs, and cleaning
Basic computer skills
Ability to perform moderate physical work
Ability to perform activities such as Heavy lifting of up to 25 lbs
Climbing ladders
Occasional bending/kneeling/stooping/crouching
Frequent standing and walking

Responsibilities

Perform groundskeeping and related activities required to maintain the buildings, grounds, and properties of Newnan Utilities
Assemble, relocate, and maintain equipment, furniture, and fixtures as needed
Follow general instructions, standard practices and procedures, and all established driving, operating, and safety rules and regulations to operate equipment
Use appropriate landscaping methods to care for, maintain, and improve the grounds and properties of Newnan Utilities
Perform pressure washing and painting
Perform building maintenance and basic repairs
Always maintain safe working conditions by using supplies and equipment properly to avoid injury to self and others
Properly care for and service power-operated equipment used for groundskeeping tasks
Assist with various community and employee event set up and clean up
Perform other related duties as assigned
