What You’ll Do The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of building maintenance functions, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, general facility upkeep, and grounds care. This role supports day-to-day operations and ensures a safe, functional, and efficient workplace environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Valid Michigan Driver License required with good driving record.
  • 5+ years’ experience in trades preferred, with specific training/experience in commercial and/or residential construction, electrical work, rough framing, plumbing, painting, HVAC, and locksmithing.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification preferred.
  • Forklift certification, EPA certification, or trade licensing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance tasks to ensure proper operation of equipment and safety systems.
  • Maintain accurate PM logs, digital reports, and inventory tracking.
  • Conduct electrical maintenance, including fixture replacement or repair using appropriate tools.
  • Handle minor plumbing tasks, such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, and installing fixtures.
  • Execute minor carpentry and masonry tasks, including hanging doors and fitting locks.
  • Reconfigure and install modular offices and space using various tools.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, assist with trash removal, event setup, and window washing.
  • Paint various structures and equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Pick up supplies from local sourcing locations as needed.
  • Assist with lawn care and other general maintenance activities.
  • Perform light HVAC maintenance, such as changing filters and cleaning coils.
  • Conduct snow removal using plow truck, snow thrower, or shovel.
  • Perform ground maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, and fertilizing.
  • Respond to critical alerts and off-hour emergencies of an on-call rotation.
