About The Position

The Facilities Engineer provides expertise to the operation, maintenance, and improvement of building systems and infrastructure. This role performs hands-on work to ensure facilities, equipment, and utilities operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and organizational requirements.

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher or technical certification in Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in facilities maintenance, engineering support, or similar technical role.
• Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical).
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment and systems using standard diagnostic tools.
• Basic computer skills and experience using maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks associated with maintenance work.

Nice To Haves

• Certifications such as EPA Universal, HVAC, Electrical, or Facilities Maintenance certification.
• Experience in regulated environments (government, laboratory, healthcare, manufacturing).
• Familiarity with building codes, OSHA regulations, and safety standards.
• Experience coordinating work with engineers, inspectors, or external contractors.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, including: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
• Building automation and monitoring systems
• Life safety systems (fire alarm, fire suppression)
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair facility equipment and infrastructure issues.
• Support facility upgrades, renovations, and engineering projects, including installation and testing of new equipment.
• Conduct facility inspections and walkthroughs to identify maintenance needs and safety issues.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, schematics, and preventive maintenance procedures.
• Providing expertise with leading the documentation work performed, corrective actions, and equipment status in maintenance tracking systems.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and services.
• Support regulatory compliance and audits by maintaining records and assisting with inspections.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and security procedures.
• Provide after-hours or on-call support as required.
