About The Position

We are hiring immediately for full-time FACILITIES ELECTRICAL CONTROLS TECHNICIAN positions. Location: AstraZeneca - 290 Binney Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02142. Note: online applications accepted only. Schedule: Full time; Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. More details upon interview. Requirements: Massachusetts electrician license is required. Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate the operation of building automation, HVAC vibration and temperature monitoring, fire/life‑safety systems, access controls and various lighting systems and components. Ensure uninterrupted support of ongoing R&D activities by providing rapid response to equipment and system issues that may impact experiments, testing schedules, or overall facility reliability. Work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, and utilities teams on system diagnostics, equipment upgrades, and cross‑disciplinary maintenance, supporting integrated operation of HVAC, and environmental control systems as well as scheduling and coordinating with landlord staff for integrated systems. Coordinate with vendors on specialized controls work, assist in small‑scale controls projects, maintain system documentation, and ensure adherence to electrical codes, safety regulations, and facility standards.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts electrician license is required.
  • 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.
  • Working knowledge of local, state and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Journeyman Electrical License.
  • Experience working with blueprints, specifications, or models to learn or plan work layouts, making routine computations as needed.
  • Rudimentary ability to utilize hand-operated construction equipment.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop and perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time.
