About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining our facility, equipment and machinery in support of the fresh food production process. The Facilities Associate handles routine issues and preventative maintenance and works along side Facilities Supervisor and Facilities Technicians to learn more complex equipment and machinery.

Requirements

  • Able to stand and work for long periods of time (8+ hour shifts) in a cold environment (around 40 degrees) and in a hot environment.
  • Must be able and willing to work in refrigerated coolers (~38⁰F)
  • Lifting 100 lbs maximum with the frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to use: hand tools, power tools, precision measuring tools, computers
  • Ability to climb ladders and stationary ladders
  • Basic understand of HVAC, Carpentry, Electrical, and Plumbing concept
  • Ability to read and understand machine diagrams and manuals

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Google Suite preferred
  • Vocational or Trade experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, diagnoses and repairs machinery and equipment needed for the Cicero Production and Distribution facility. Machines include cleaning equipment, food processing, and warehouse equipment. Machines will have various mechanisms including motorized, pneumatic, electric, and heating mechanisms.
  • Completed routine maintenance and repairs are assigned.
  • Handles emergency repair calls when able. Refers complicated repairs to Facilities Technicians and communicates associated machine downtime to Manager on Duty.
  • Works alongside Facilities Techs to assist with and learn about more complex maintenance issues.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications.
  • Maintains office and interior spaces including; electrical, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, tile work, drop ceilings and painting.
  • Responds to preventative and corrective maintenance tickets via ticketing system.
  • Records maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Performs work in adherence to guidelines set by the Quality & Food Safety team (QFS) as well as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Ensures that work areas are left clean and that maintenance shop is organized.
