Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days. In this position you can expect to work on site at least 3 days per week at our DEN JAG Building (26100 E. 68th Ave. Suite 240, Aurora, CO 80019). Design Engineering and Construction (DEC) serves as DEN’s primary delivery arm for design and construction, and the Facility Projects group manages more than $325 million in projects across the airport’s built environment, including new and existing buildings, systems, and equipment with a focus on sustainability, total cost of ownership, and design excellence. With a renewed emphasis on constructing and rehabilitating facility infrastructure to ensure continuity, reliability, and efficiency, DEC is seeking an interdisciplinary Project Manager with strong technical proficiency, problem‑solving skills, communication abilities, financial acumen, and stewardship. This role will work closely with stakeholders throughout multi‑year planning, design, and construction efforts, helping to define project goals, develop scopes of work, and create comprehensive plans that address timelines, budgets, risks, staffing, and resource allocation. The position reports to the Facility Projects Supervisor within DEC. Specifically, as the Facilities Associate Project Manager, you will: Provide knowledge, expertise, and overall support for DEN’s future development, infrastructure, and design and construction needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including coordinating, administering, and monitoring projects.
  • One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Three or more years of engineering, architecture, and/or construction management experience, including demonstrated work on aviation or other critical‑operations facility projects similar to DEN.
  • Experience engaging, coordinating, and partnering with diverse stakeholders throughout facility project design and construction efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate with contractors and apply an understanding of the municipal contract conditions.
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills, with experience communicating effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Background in the architectural, engineering, and/or construction management industries, supported by strong educational and/or experiential foundations.
  • A demonstrated drive and passion for delivering high‑quality, creative, and technically sound solutions to unique and complex problems.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven capability to contribute effectively within interdisciplinary teams and dynamic project environments.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with stakeholders to determine, establish, and execute project work plans, goals, scopes of work, and objectives.
  • Develop and define project time frames, funding limitations, contract costs, risk factors, staffing and resource requirements, and allocation of available resources across project phases.
  • Partner with management to maintain established project plans, goals, scopes of work, budgets, schedules, risk considerations, and resource allocations.
  • Review projects for code and standards compliance, monitor progress and quality, and resolve issues by identifying strategies to overcome barriers.
  • Assist or participate in preparing pre‑bid materials, including scopes of work and supporting documentation for RFQs/RFPs, and respond to related inquiries.
  • Prepare and communicate project status reports to key stakeholders, providing updates on activities, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget for assigned projects; act as the airport’s primary representative; and coordinate communication among airport divisions throughout planning, execution, and turnover.
  • Create, analyze, and maintain project schedules and budgets; write scopes of work and RFPs; manage design and construction contracts; and respond to RFIs, bulletins, and change requests/orders while utilizing various project delivery methods.
  • Proactively identify, prioritize, and mitigate project risks; apply emotional intelligence; identify and implement performance‑improving innovations; create purchase orders; participate in team meetings; conduct occasional job walks; and interface with City and County of Denver employees and customers.
