Facilities Assistant (Canopy Care)

About The Position

Under the direction of the Facilities Coordinator, the Facility Assistant is responsible for the safety, security, and general maintenance for all PACE and Canopy Care locations. The Facility Assistant completes routine maintenance work, makes emergency arrangements, and updates procedures with the Facility Coordinator. Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform general maintenance across all systems of complex admin/health center.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required
  • Physical ability to regularly stoop, bend, kneel, lift, stand, walk, stretch, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to regularly lift objects between 25 and 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to load, retrieve, deliver, and work with equipment weighing between 25 and 75 pounds independently and items up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to push carts/transportation mechanisms that may exceed 200 pounds
  • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization's physical premises as well as related community care settings.
  • Must be able to tolerate conditions typically associated within a medical office and/or home care setting including potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.
  • 1 to 3 years of general maintenance/contracting experience, Required
  • Driver's License & access to reliable transportation: community-based travel required.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 Year of experience in a Medical or Geriatric Care setting, Preferred
  • 1 year of experience working with a frail or elderly population, Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Facility Coordinator to establish emergency arrangements as necessary to allow for continued facility operations as a result of a facility mishap.
  • Assists with the Emergency Operations planning and maintenance process – including assisting to conduct annual hazard vulnerability analysis; compiling and creating After Action Reports; planning routine and required drills; updating command center items (forms, supplies, etc).
  • Tracks and organizes all keys for all sites as well as alarm codes. Assists in changing security codes and updates security practices when needed.
  • Assist in organizing, schedule, or attend any inspection of the building in conjunction with Day Center Directors, Food Service Manager, or other applicable staff.
  • Assists to completes monthly Environment of Care walkthroughs and regular safety checks of all sites. Recognizes maintenance and safety problems throughout all buildings by working with the DCDs, Administrators, and Operations team.
  • Works with Facilities team to provide in-house repairs on recognized and routine maintenance items.
  • Ensures that SDS binders are up to date and completed in all sites.
  • Assists to update policies related to building operations and/or procedures.
  • Updates/maintains a resource of maintenance contacts responsible for all necessary facility maintenance services at all sites.
  • Assists to keep all work orders organized , product manuals, warranty, and recall information and acts in accordance to those standards.
  • Assists to complete and update a running inventory of all PACE or Canopy Care owned or rented equipment and the conditions of such per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensures that all PACE and Canopy Care buildings operate within all federal and state regulations.
  • Alongside the Facility Coordinator, works effectively with landlords, state and town officials, and other public figures.
  • Creates efforts for PACE and Canopy Care to lower environmental impact; chooses environmentally sustainable products and services and explores opportunities for PACE and Canopy Care.
  • Works with the Facilities Coordinator to budget maintenance costs and for approval of high-cost items.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation; is responsive and reports to facilities in person as needed.
  • Travels to all sites throughout the state.
  • Assists to manage off-hour emergencies at PACE and Canopy Care locations.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
