About The Position

The Facilities & Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all facility and equipment maintenance activities within a distribution center environment. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of material handling equipment (including forklifts), building systems, and site infrastructure while supporting operational uptime, safety compliance, and continuous improvement at both the Winchester, VA and Kinston, NC facilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of facilities or maintenance experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial environment
  • 2+ years in a leadership or management role
  • Strong working knowledge of forklift maintenance
  • Experience managing building systems and facility infrastructure
  • Understanding of OSHA and workplace safety requirements
  • Must be willing to travel to Kinston facility as needed (minimum quarterly)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills preferred
  • Experience managing capital projects and budgets
  • Preventative maintenance planning

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance, safety, and availability of all material handling equipment (MHE), including forklifts, reach trucks, pallet jacks, and related equipment
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and protect assets
  • Coordinate repairs, inspections, and capital improvement projects for equipment and facility systems
  • Maintain building systems including HVAC, electrical, lighting, dock equipment (doors, levelers, restraints), racking, and fire suppression systems
  • Track equipment utilization, service history, and lifecycle replacement planning
  • Ensure facility readiness to support inbound, outbound, and storage operations
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, certifications, warranties, and repairs
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire code, environmental regulations, and manufacturer safety standards
  • Manage operator certification compliance in partnership with Operations and Safety
  • Support lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and contractor safety protocols
  • Partner with Safety and Operations leadership to reduce workplace hazards
  • Manage maintenance vendors, service contracts, and warranties; negotiate agreements and monitor performance
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets, including repairs, parts, and capital expenditures
  • Track maintenance costs and identify cost-saving opportunities
  • Lead, train, and develop future maintenance technician positions
  • Partner with Operations leadership to support peak periods and respond to urgent equipment or facility issues
  • Support expansion projects, layout changes, process improvements, and new equipment installations
