The Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication and preparation of natural and engineered stone slabs for use in countertops, vanities, and other custom stone applications. The Fabricator role requires knowledge of concrete repair techniques, precision, craftsmanship, and attention to detail to produce high-quality finished products. JOB DESCRIPTION Key Performance Indicators: Material Handling and Preparation Concrete Repair and Restoration Cutting and Shaping Edge Profiling and Polishing Quality Control Inspection Safety and Maintenance

  • Receive, inspect, and inventory incoming stone slabs, ensuring accuracy and quality standards are met.
  • Move and transport slabs using forklifts, cranes, or other material handling equipment as needed.
  • Clean, inspect, and template slabs for fabrication, marking areas for cutting, edging, and finishing.
  • Apply concrete repair mortars, overlays, and coatings to restore damaged or deteriorated slabs and surfaces.
  • Use hand tools, trowels, and finishing equipment to shape, level, and smooth repaired areas to match existing surfaces.
  • Install expansion joints, control joints, and caulking to prevent future cracking and water infiltration.
  • Operate bridge saws, waterjets, or other cutting machinery to cut slabs to size according to project specifications.
  • Use CNC machines or hand tools to shape edges, cutouts, and profiles on stone slabs with precision and accuracy.
  • Ensure proper alignment, layout, and symmetry of cuts to maximize material yield and minimize waste.
  • Fabricate edge profiles, such as straight, beveled, bullnose, or ogee, using profiling machines and diamond tools.
  • Polish edges and surfaces of stone slabs to achieve a smooth, glossy finish using polishing equipment and abrasives.
  • Apply sealants, enhancers, or surface treatments to protect and enhance the appearance of finished slabs.
  • Inspect fabricated slabs for defects, imperfections, or inconsistencies in color, pattern, or finish.
  • Perform quality checks and measurements to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
  • Make corrections to meet quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to prevent accidents, injuries, and property damage.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the fabrication area, including proper storage of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Proven experience as a slab fabricator or stone mason in the countertop or stone industry.
  • Proficiency in operating stone fabrication machinery, including bridge saws, CNC machines, edge polishers, and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of stone types, characteristics, and fabrication techniques, including cutting, shaping, and finishing.
  • Attention to detail, precision, and craftsmanship in working with natural and engineered stone materials.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to lift, maneuver, and work with heavy stone slabs and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Vocational training or certification in stone fabrication
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Knowledge of concrete repair techniques, materials, and tools, including patching compounds, resurfacing systems, and decorative coatings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues with machinery, materials, or fabrication processes.
