Our service offerings include system analysis and design, applications engineering, custom fabrication of equipment packages, automation and controls, equipment repair, and thermal hard coatings. tencarva.com Summary: We are hiring a MIG Welder to assist with the fabrication of custom, skid-mounted pump packages for industrial, sanitary, mining, and municipal water/wastewater applications. This is a shop-based role focused on layout, fit-up, and MIG welding of structural and mechanical components. This is not a millwright position. No field installation, alignment, or machinery teardown work is required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 3-5 years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification in welding preferred.

  • Hands-on MIG welding experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints and technical drawings
  • Experience with basic fabrication, layout, and fit-up
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical equations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, use of whole numbers, and percentage and decimals.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills and internet software knowledge.
  • Forklift, hoist, crane, hand tools, power tools, drills, saw, welder, and other equipment deemed necessary to fulfill the job’s functions.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include being able to accommodate/adjusting the lens of the eye to bring an object into sharp focus and maintain a good field of vision, observing an area that can be seen up or down or right or left while eyes are fixed in a given point.

  • Must be able to fulfill all essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified MIG welder (AWS or equivalent)
  • Experience fabricating industrial skids, pump packages, or custom assemblies
  • Exposure to TIG or stick welding
  • Forklift or overhead crane experience

Responsibilities

  • Fabricates bases and mounts the pump, motor, and drives to those bases.
  • Perform MIG (GMAW) welding on carbon steel and related materials
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and schematics
  • Use shop tools such as saws, grinders, drills, and measuring equipment
  • Layout, fit, and assemble frames, skids, supports, piping components, and brackets
  • Verify dimensions and fit-up prior to welding
  • Produce welds that meet visual and dimensional requirements
  • Maintains and service welding equipment.
  • Keeps work area safe and clean and adheres to Company safety rules and policies.
  • Follow shop safety procedures and welding best practices
  • Communicate with supervisors or engineering when drawings or fit-up issues arise
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
