Fabrication Technician , Subscale Lab

Swarm AeroSpokane, WA
6h$30 - $39

About The Position

Swarm Aero is redefining air power, building the largest swarming UAV and most versatile swarming aircraft network in the world. The company is moving quickly to launch the first aircraft designed specifically for swarming as well as the Command & Control software to mobilize swarms of thousands of heterogeneous autonomous assets and empower human operators to achieve superhuman results. The team has created and exited multiple startups, negotiated defense deals worth billions of dollars and designed and built 30+ novel aircraft, with aerospace experience from Scaled Composites, Airbus, Archer Aviation, Blue Origin, and Boom Supersonic. We're looking for a skilled Fabrication Technician to join our Team Lab and help bring a full-scale static aircraft model to life. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in the craft of building — from operating large-format 3D printers to sanding, bonding, finishing, and assembling large structural components into a cohesive, display-ready aircraft. You'll work side by side with engineers and designers in a fast-moving prototype environment where your attention to detail and builder's instinct will directly shape the final product. If you're the kind of person who measures success by what you've made with your hands, this role is for you.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building, fabricating, or assembling physical products or structures
  • Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing workflows
  • Comfortable using shop tools and working with composite, plastic, or lightweight materials
  • Experience sanding, finishing, or preparing parts for paint or display
  • Ability to follow build instructions while adapting to evolving designs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with large-format 3D printing
  • Background in model making, automotive, aerospace, cosplay, marine, or prototype fabrication
  • Experience with bonding agents, fillers, primers, or finishing techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
  • Enjoy working with your hands and seeing large projects come together

Responsibilities

  • Support fabrication and assembly of a full-scale static aircraft model
  • Operate and manage large-format and desktop 3D printers
  • Perform post-processing including sanding, bonding, finishing, and surface preparation
  • Assist with painting and final visual finishing of aircraft structures
  • Assemble large printed and fabricated components into full aircraft sections
  • Help move, position, and install large assemblies within the lab environment
  • Maintain fabrication equipment and keep build areas organized and operational
  • Work closely with engineers and designers to bring physical concepts to life
