About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Fabrication Tank Inspector to join our team on Badger Dr. in Waukesha, WI! The hourly rate for this position is $26.25 per hour + $2.50 per hour shift premium. The core hours are 3 pm - 11 pm. Overtime may exceed these hours and be mandatory at times. What you’ll do: The Tank Fab Inspector ensures that forming and welding is done safely and in compliance with our design and quality standards, fills in on test and inspection functions, and provides services as required by Tank Fab Quality supervisor. They interact with the Quality Supervisor for all department functions, Production, and Engineering as required. They will also write and administer training programs.

Requirements

  • Completion of High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Education in AC/DC fundamentals (internal Eaton course) AND/OR completion of electricity coursework from an accredited institution AND/OR a minimum of 1 year of experience in electricity, welding, or steel forming.

  • Capable of rapidly learning the assembly/inspection/test requirements.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with personnel from all departments.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.
  • Ability to use measurement devices and gauges.
  • Familiarity with software such as Microsoft Word and Excel

Responsibilities

  • Understand and perform all job classifications within the Quality Assurance/Quality Control departments and fill in as needed in all test and inspection areas.
  • Inspect welds and measure them against standards
  • Review and approve welding processes. Look for visible damage such as corrosion, cracks, pores, leaks, and deformations.
  • Check that fasteners are secure.
  • Ensure proper alignment of formed and welded parts.
  • Accept or reject components, materials, and equipment.
  • Determine compliance with design specifications.
  • Verify and enforce safety requirements
  • Create, implement, and manage quality control procedures
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and engineering documents
  • Maintain detailed documentation of inspections
  • Evaluate forming deviations and overall performance.
  • Look for visible damage, correct location of welded parts.
  • Assume limited responsibility in the absence of the Quality supervisor.
  • Assist the Quality supervisor with daily duties:
  • Make decisions (e.g., go-no-go and assess charges) on quality issues.
  • Audit deviation requests, approve, issue, and maintain log
  • Assist in writing training programs and procedures.
  • Investigate the cause of nonconforming product and initiate the corrective action necessary to prevent recurrence.
