About The Position

Supervise fabrication of custom hops processing equipment as designed by YCH Engineering and operations team. Maintain fabrication shop and equipment while supervising and mentoring company fabricators on the latest industry best practices and assisting maintenance mechanics from all facilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years full-time fabrication experience in a high-production work environment required.
  • Proficient in SMAW (stick), GTAW (TIG), & GMAW (MIG) welding.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams.
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to managers & coworkers.
  • Ability to lead direct reports & coworkers from other departments on projects.
  • Possess a strong work ethic to positively contribute to the company’s mission, vision, values, environmental policy & quality policy.
  • Have a positive attitude, support coworkers to obtain desired objectives, & assist others in their contributions.
  • Ability to work in overhead, prone, sitting, kneeling, or other body positions as required by the work environment.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolds, lifts, & other elevated positions.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (in required areas) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Handle hazardous chemicals safely according to their Safety Data Sheets.
  • Ability to operate a forklift, scissor lift, boom lift.

Nice To Haves

  • Lead or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in welding carbon & stainless steel structural, sheet metal, & pipe.
  • Welding certifications (WABO, AWS, ASME, etc.) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of manual machining practices on vertical mill & lathe is desired.
  • Working knowledge of CNC plasma cutting practices & software is desired.
  • Competency in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook.
  • Familiarity with sanitary design and CIP standards.
  • Ability to read & follow technical drawings, process diagrams, & P&ID’s, and interpret the drawings and diagrams into installations.
  • Proficiency in drafting & 3D modeling using AutoCAD or similar software is desired.
  • Ability to produce accurate construction drawings, including weld callouts is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional, disciplined, and safe work environment in the shop & in the field.
  • Execute high-quality work with attention to detail.
  • Accurately interpret technical & construction drawings, including weld callouts.
  • Take accurate field measurements as needed for project planning.
  • Apply appropriate welding & hot cutting processes on stainless steel, carbon steel, & aluminum structural materials.
  • Apply appropriate mechanical cutting, grinding, polishing, & finishing techniques on various metals.
  • Apply appropriate pipe/tube joining techniques for liquid & gas transfer.
  • Assist with installation of sensors & process control devices.
  • Produce construction drawings & 3D models using AutoCAD or similar software.
  • Oversee maintenance of shop equipment & tools (welders, machine tools, etc.).
  • Maintain tool checkout & inventory.
  • Order construction materials & shop supplies, following company procurement procedures.
  • Code invoices for accounts payable processing.
  • Enter & track project progress in SmartSheets shared spreadsheet.
  • Supervise and train others in a safe environment on the appropriate use of shop equipment & tools.
  • Interact with plant personnel at all levels to assess problems & opportunities, & work collaboratively to develop solutions.
  • Lead installation of new equipment, structures, piping systems, etc.
  • Fabricate replacement parts for existing equipment.
  • Meet with department manager & team members to assess progress & discuss needed changes.
  • Co-manage Fabrication team with Director of Engineering to ensure employees are competent and being utilized to their full potential.
  • Recommend opportunities for growth and development for the team.
  • Examine documents, materials, and products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Follow all SOPs in each area.
  • Prepare presentations for ELT, MLT and BOD as needed.
  • Comfortable with presenting to upper management on project updates.
  • Designing scopes of work (SOW).
  • Developing case studies on projects.
  • Managing contractors and subcontractors on site projects.
  • Become familiar with standards relevant to material handling, material processing, and high-pressure fittings and vessels.
  • Hold quarterly presentations on tools, methods, and best practices relevant to YCH and industry standards.
  • Maintain sanitary and safe work environment and follow safety requirements.
  • May actively participate on company’s Safety Committee.
  • Ensure that company safety policies as well as federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations are observed.
  • Must have a complete understanding of company’s policies, SOPs, QPs, EPs, HACCP and cGMP that pertain to their department to ensure quality, safety, efficiency and sustainability.
  • Must adhere to all company policies.
  • Ensure that team members are completing CER trainings as required.
  • Develop team members by scheduling necessary training.
  • Work with Director and HR for any disciplinary actions for any crew members.
  • Install and/or assist with all installations listed above.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Manager and/or designee.
