About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Fabrication Specialist to support our Fabrication Team in Orangeburg, South Carolina on 1st shift. Primary Responsibilities: Performs machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks. Performs composite lay-up, fabrication and assembly tasks. Assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components. Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various power plants and drive trains. Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products. Assembles and installs wire harnesses and avionics products. Prepares test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests. Performs basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation. Applies routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements. Works on articles of moderate complexity using established drawings and requirements. This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

Requirements

6+ months of Aerospace, Fabrication, or Manufacturing experience
Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
Able to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day, climb ladders, bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day, squat and kneel.
Able to work variable shifts, with the understanding that your assigned shift will not be confirmed until after training

Nice To Haves

1+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
1 year of experience with Lean Principles (Continuous Improvement, Standard Work, and 5-S tools)
1 year of experience leading any of the following: staff, teams, production, or quality system initiatives
1 year of experience with managing or working to safety, quality, and manufacturing performance data
1 year of experience reading established engineering drawings and specifications
1 year of experience with sanding, taping, mixing material, the application of paint
1 year of experience in aerospace or automotive paint application, paints & coatings, and/or inorganic chemical processes
