Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on fabrication, assembly, or electrical experience in mechanical or avionics systems.
  • CAD Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings and 3D models (SolidWorks or AutoCAD).
  • Technical Aptitude: Experience using hand and power tools, fixtures, and measuring equipment in a production or prototype environment.
  • Industry Background: Exposure to FOD-sensitive and precision-critical environments, such as aerospace, military, or automotive systems.
  • Soldering & Wiring: Skilled in soldering, crimping, and splicing of small-gauge wiring and electronic components.
  • Work Conditions: Must be able to work in dynamic environments, including Controlled Work Areas (CWAs), at heights, and in confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Military experience, with familiarity in safety-critical operations and standardized procedures.
  • 3+ years in mechanical fabrication, composite lay-up, sheet metal, wiring, or avionics assembly.
  • Experience with safety protocols in AS9100 or similar regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional teams and high-paced project environments.

Responsibilities

  • Execute machine setup, precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, extrusion, tube bending, and welding operations.
  • Perform composite lay-up, bonding, and assembly of composite structures.
  • Assemble, install, and test mechanical and electro-mechanical subsystems, including power plants and drive trains.
  • Conduct soldering, crimping, and splicing on electronic and avionics components and small-gauge wire harnesses.
  • Fabricate, install, and validate wire harnesses, instrumentation, and avionics systems.
  • Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection equipment for testing and validation.
  • Perform chemical conversion coating and painting; apply corrosion-resistant organic coatings to aerospace components.
  • Interpret and work from 2D drawings, engineering specifications, and 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Operate within Controlled Work Areas (CWAs) with high-cleanliness standards (oxygen, helium, hydrogen systems).
  • Use precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and fabrication tools (presses, saws, drills, etc.).
  • Conduct fit checks, functional testing, and troubleshooting of prototype and small production assemblies.
  • Log assembly data, maintain process documentation, and follow AS9100-compliant quality and safety protocols.
  • Support engineering teams to resolve design or manufacturability issues.
  • Work at heights, on mobile platforms, and in confined spaces as required.
  • Participate in daily FOD walks, 5S/lean compliance, and tool accountability programs.
