The Fabrication Operator reports to the Fabrication Manager and is responsible for supporting the materials management function of the fabrication department. Fabricators are essential to the overall operation of the business, with main responsibilities including cutting, threading, grooving, testing, and bundling pipe and fittings to meet customer’s specifications, though specific daily tasks may vary based on workload.

Requirements

  • Work Experience: Entry Level
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, including but not limited to computerized bar code scanner, printer, and standard warehouse equipment/tools/machines/vehicles
  • Basic math and reasoning skills
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and through the direction of a Fabrication Manager
  • Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization
  • Know when to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects
  • Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, pull, and push during entire work shift

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in the operation of a forklift truck

Responsibilities

  • Pipe threading, cutting, and grooving
  • Product quality testing through pressure and/or chemical testing
  • Painting product
  • Sandblasting if required by location
  • Material layout by customer measurements/specifications
  • Read job prints
  • Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
  • Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
  • Must learn how to operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, crane, etc.
  • Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of warehouse
  • Check assigned equipment for proper operation/functionality and communicate problems to Warehouse Manager
  • Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
  • Safely operate additional warehouse equipment
  • Attend meetings and training sessions
  • Other fabrication tasks as assigned
