About The Position

As the Fabrication Manager, you will oversee all aspects of heavy mobile equipment diagnostics, repair, maintenance, and fabrication. This position requires a versatile, hands-on leader with a strong background in hydraulics, diagnostics, fabrication, and mechanical repair. You will ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, while managing daily shop operations and supporting field crews as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong background in hydraulics, heavy mobile equipment repair, diagnostics, and fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and fabrication drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a diverse team.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and protocols.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts, cranes, and other shop and yard equipment.
  • Positive attitude, ability to work with diverse personalities, and promote teamwork and professionalism.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or certifications in fabrication/welding strongly preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor tasks.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperature conditions.
  • Exposure to warehouse equipment and machinery (PPE )

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of manual and CNC machining processes is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues.
  • Use diagnostic tools and software to pinpoint faults in engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and control systems.
  • Oversee new equipment fabrication, with adaptability to meet drilling industry needs and evolving requirements.
  • Work in the yard gathering items for job lists, and demonstrate a willingness to learn drilling industry tooling.
  • Conduct repairs on heavy mobile machinery such as excavators, cranes, and drilling rigs.
  • Maintain tracking of equipment maintenance schedules and upcoming service need ed
  • Rebuild or replace components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, and cylinders.
  • Provide remote diagnostics and troubleshooting for equipment breakdowns in the field.
  • Stay engaged with field crews, supporting their day-to-day repair and maintenance needs.
  • Manage logistics for parts and supplies, ensuring prompt delivery (including UPS overnight if necessary).
  • Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness of the fabrication shop.
  • Lead and supervise a team of shop personnel, fostering a positive, productive work environment.
  • Communicate repair status and recommendations clearly to supervisors, operators, and fleet managers.
  • Maintain accurate records of service reports, time logs, inspections, and repair details.
