Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Extrusion Lead ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Extrusion Lead will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. The general purpose of the Extrusion Lead is to work as the lead operator for one extrusion press during a production shift, making sure the team works safely and efficiently. Push for a high level of operational excellence while operating in a safe and productive manner and holding the team to such as well. Measure and examine extruded products to locate defects and to check for conformance to specifications according to blueprints, adjusting controls as necessary to alter products. The extrusion lead is responsible for the quality of material the team produces. Assist in determining setup procedures according to specifications and document any inconsistencies or changes. In addition, make sure the team is following proper procedures. Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance on the extrusion press. (ex. Monitor oil levels, change and replace worn tooling, basic cleaning) Accurately use ERP system to document machine rates and material usage to facilitate a efficient and lean production environment. In addition, calculate and track raw material usage against recorded values for discrepancies, verify scrap and production values Assist in the training of new employees, making sure that they are adequately trained and have completed each step of their On-the-Job Training (OJT). Communicate within the organization using email or telephone to discuss changes in production schedule or machine issues. At shift changes hand off the machine to the incoming lead seamlessly so no downtime occurs and working directly with the supervisor for any personnel or production related issues. Be able to perform duties and responsibilities of Extrusion A, B, and C as needed to cover vacations, absences, breaks, etc. In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for: Performing all work-related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
