About The Position
The Fabrication Assistant supports the fabrication department by assisting with deburring, part preparation, material handling, and general shop duties. This role helps ensure parts are properly prepared for welding, painting, assembly, or shipment while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Requirements
- Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools (grinders, sanders, deburring tools)
- Willingness to learn fabrication processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Commitment to workplace safety and PPE requirements
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
- Experience working with metal (steel, aluminum, stainless steel)
- Basic knowledge of shop safety practices
Responsibilities
- Assist with deburring, grinding, sanding, and cleaning fabricated parts
- Remove sharp edges, slag, and surface imperfections from metal components
- Prepare parts for next operations such as welding, painting, or assembly
- Perform basic material handling, including moving parts and staging work
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fabrication areas
- Follow work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision
- Assist fabricators and welders with general shop support tasks as needed
