A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A FABRICATION ASSISTANT As a Fabrication Assistant, you will perform various tasks related to the production of blending and material-handling equipment. Ability to follow instructions will be critical as you use power and hand tools (such as drills, grinders, and air tools) to prepare parts for the next stage of the production process. Attention to detail is important as you inspect parts both visually and with precision and measuring tools to ensure compliance with quality specifications. The ability to lift and handle a variety of metal parts of different shapes and sizes is necessary, typically weighing 5-50 pounds. Setup, operation, and general upkeep of forklift and other basic equipment used in the manufacturing process or maintenance of facilities will also be a part of your day.
