The Leather/Fabric Machine Cutting Operator is responsible for accurately cutting leather and fabric materials according to production specifications and patterns for use in furniture manufacturing. This role ensures optimal material usage, quality standards, and production efficiency while maintaining a safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in furniture manufacturing, textile cutting, or upholstery strongly preferred
  • Experience operating cutting machines (Gerber, Lectra, Eastman, or similar) is a plus
  • Ability to read patterns, blueprints, or work instructions
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Former Diamino & Formaris software experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate cutting machines (manual, or Pathfinder) to cut leather and fabric components
  • Read and interpret work orders, patterns, and cutting layouts
  • Inspect materials for defects and determine proper placement to maximize yield and minimize waste
  • Spread and position fabric or leather hides for accurate cutting
  • Adjust machine settings based on material type, thickness, and cutting requirements
  • Monitor cutting process to ensure accuracy and quality of parts
  • Bundle, label, and organize cut parts for downstream production (sewing, upholstery, assembly)
  • Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies
  • Collaborate with floor leaders to troubleshoot and resolve fabric issues, as well as meet production goals and deadlines
  • Assist Engineers, Scheduler, Buyer, and Fabric Technician
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
