About The Position

The Fabrication Quality Inspector plays a key role in ensuring product quality, safety, and compliance throughout the fabrication process. This position is responsible for performing detailed inspections, verifying accuracy against engineering drawings and specifications, and supporting continuous improvement by identifying and communicating non conformances. Successful inspectors collaborate closely with fabrication, assembly, and front end engineering teams to ensure all products meet Eaton’s standards and customer requirements. Perform containment activities for quality issues identified internally and through warranty claims including sorting activities, and drive corrective and preventive action to eliminate/minimize the Quality issues identified during inspections. The Fab Inspector drives inspection effectiveness, escalates and resolves quality issues, maintains robust documentation, and partners with Production, and Engineering to prevent defects, escapes of non-conforming components, and delivers defect data to metrics owners and production associates to drive improvements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED from accredited institution.
  • Previous experience reading blueprint/engineering Drawings and interpretation experience
  • Previous experience with measurement tools (calipers, tape measure, protractors, gauges, etc.).
  • Previous experience in Quality, Manufacturing, and/or Engineering function within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • No relocation offered. Candidates must reside within 50 - miles of Arden, NC to be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication.
  • Familiarity with Eaton systems such as Enovia, DMM, POM, AS400 (MRP/ERP), and MQ1/EQLM
  • Previous experience with Coordinate Measurement Machines (CMM)
  • Previous experience and knowledge of ISO-9001 quality systems

Responsibilities

  • Use CMM measurement system and other measurement devices to verify dimensions and part conformity.
  • Document inspection results, including findings, deviations, and corrective actions such as required rework.
  • Validate part accuracy and compliance with Enovia engineering drawings and/or CAD files.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to conduct accurate inspections.
  • Identify, document, and communicate non conformances; verify appropriate rework and support problem solving activities.
  • Report design discrepancies through the turnback system and verify resolution through updated revisions.
  • Ensure that all suspect material is properly identified and segregated to prevent unintended use.
  • Audit NCMR parts to identify root cause and determine corrective actions.
