About The Position

Churchill Downs Racetrack (“CDRT”), the world’s most legendary racetrack, has been the home of The Kentucky Derby, the longest continually held annual sporting event in the United States, since 1875. Located in Louisville, CDRT features a series of themed race days during Derby Week, including the Kentucky Oaks, and conducts Thoroughbred horse racing during three race meets in the Spring, September and Fall. CDRT is located on 175 acres and has a one-mile dirt track, a 7/8-mile turf track, a stabling area, and provides seating for approximately 60,000 guests. The stable area has barns sufficient to accommodate 1,400 horses and a 114-room dormitory for backstretch personnel. CDRT also has a year-round simulcast wagering facility . www.ChurchillDowns.com.JOB SUMMARYA Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring maximum guest service satisfaction, by orchestrating, through the team, production of quality food and high standards of service.  Must be able to maintain franchise standards and teach these standards to new employees.

Requirements

  • Proficient in basic computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • PayCor timekeeper system.
  • Operate/ maintain dispensers (e.g., fountain, juice, creamer, coffee and tea brewers.
  • Operate Point of Sale System (Revention)
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two (2) to three (3) years relevant experience and demonstrated the ability to lead
  • Obtain, within thirty days from day of employment, alcohol service certification, and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Obtain Serv-Safe Certification within ninety days from date of hire and/or transfer.
  • Commission (KHRC).
  • The job requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, reach overhead, and repetitive use of hands 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to balance/climb, bend over, crouch/stoop, hear, kneel, talk, turn/twist, and walk 25-50% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to push/pull, carry, lift, and slide/transfer 1-50 lbs. 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to slide/transfer 1-25 lbs. 51-100% of the time, 25-50 lbs. 25-50% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to organize, plan and make decision and interpret data 51-100% of the time.
  • The job requires the ability to solve problems, read and write 25-50% of the time.
  • The job performed in a restaurant environment.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a role model within and outside the gaming and racing facility.

  • Enforce performance standards, policies and procedures in the venue are in accordance with company missions and objectives.
  • Maximize cost effectiveness within the department by ensuring staff’s compliance with all guest service standards.
  • Responsible for the job performance of all associates and provides feedback on it to aid the associates in developing and enhancing skills.
  • Responsible for the evaluating and training of the associates ensuring staff’s compliance with all guest service standards.
  • Responsible for complying with all food and beverage health and safety regulations; as well as all federal, state, and local applicable laws.
  • Ensure venue operations are run in a smooth, efficient manner to ensure guests satisfaction.
  • Responsible for checking in orders and using proper rotation methods (FIFO) when stocking.
  • Responsible for listening to, evaluating and assuring control of guest grievances.
  • Communicate with the manager concerning operational deficiencies and areas in need of attention.
  • Establish priorities for all crew members and provides assistance as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a consistent and regular attendance record.
  • Participate in the execution of new menu implementations, daily specials and promotions.
  • Responsible for maintaining all kitchen equipment and the appearance of the venue in accordance to company standards.
  • Communicates regularly with the Food & Beverage Operations Manager about Department issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining open communication throughout the venue, thru daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Knowledge of company internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining standards of health, safety and sanitation.
  • Have Fun and ensure all staff members do as well.
  • Must possess excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate one-on-one, in small group to moderate-sized gathering of associates and/or executives.
  • Serves as a leader for employees while fostering teamwork, employee morale, motivation and open communication.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, percentages, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to a variety of situations, in order to collect data, analyze facts, and determine appropriate response.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Build relationships and loyalty with guests through sincere and meaningful interactions (e.g., learn guests’ names and preferences: connect with them individually and professionally; smile; make eye contact and verbally greet guests from arrival to the property through departure; and provide fast and friendly service to guests).
