About The Position

Job Scope: The Extrusion Operator is to be proficient in extrusion process operations. The Operator maintains quality, operates extrusion/processing equipment, and performs all associated processing activities. They will set up, calibrate, operate, monitor, and perform basic trouble shooting of extrusion and auxiliary equipment; adjust equipment variables to meet equipment and product requirements. Calculate rates and performance percentages for product runs. Ensure required changeovers are completed accurately and efficiently. Accountable for maintaining and sustaining FIFS program. Perform QC duties as necessary. Accountable for personal safety, behavior, and performance. Participate in a full facility and equipment clean up as directed. Work Environment: Work is performed indoors. Operating equipment may produce loud noises such as forklift horns and loose particles may be present. Employees may work in hot temperatures. Work performed in this job requires employees to wear a bump cap, hearing protection, safety shoes/boots, and safety glasses always.

Requirements

Must be computer literate.
Must have ability to accept temporary assignment changes to assist other areas of the plant.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds of product routinely and climb a ladder to maintenance equipment from a catwalk.
Must be certified to operate forklifts.
Must be willing to/have availability to work any shift (day or night shift).
Ability to work independently without immediate direction or oversight.
Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and integrity.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively communicate in a professional manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills (communication, listening, team player, cooperative, approachable).
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

Extrusion experience at a food processing facility preferred.

Responsibilities

Knowledge of product specifications.
Monitor meat percentages as applied to ingredients as required by order specifications.
Knowledge of operating extruders, dryers, and coolers.
Knowledge of ration screener, regrind mill, and grinding bin capacities.
Capable of performing routine adjustments and changeovers.
Disassemble and reassemble die heads and clean as necessary.
Test for protein, fat and moisture content to specifications and quality control statistics.
Perform and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Maintain Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in accordance with company policy.
Perform all functions in accordance with sound safety practices and procedures.

Assist in maintaining a positive team environment and good working relationship by maintaining a positive attitude toward all Diamond team members, vendors, and customers.
