While reporting to the Extrusion Supervisor, you will be responsible for operating all Extrusion equipment in a safe manner. Excellent attendance is crucial for the team to achieve success. You will take pride in your personal hands-on and analytical abilities, organization skills, and attention to detail. This position is in our Plastics facility in beautiful Franklin Park, IL Our Thermoformed and Flexible Packaging business serves North America, Latin America and Europe with 22 locations. We create and manufacture sustainable packaging solutions. Our customers span the food, retail, and medical sectors. Our packaging meets the needs of a wide range of applications including snacks, condiments, healthcare items, prepared meals, fresh produce, coffee, and pet food. Requirements

  • At least one year of experience as an extrusion operator in a plastic packaging environment (must have been the operator or lead operator not helper or roll hanger)
  • 2 years of machine operator experience
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience in injection molding
  • Steel toe shoes
  • Ability to read, write, and perform math skills
  • Sense of urgency and responsibility
  • Understanding of manufacturing and quality control

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate and extrusion machine and ensure proper dimensions are set up
  • Adjust machine components to regulate speeds, pressures, temperatures, and amounts, dimensions and flow of materials or ingredients
  • Ensure that quality expectations are met and notify lead technician, or supervisor, when extruded product fails to meet standards
  • Record and Maintain production data such as meter readings ad quantities, types and dimensions of materials produced
  • Turn controls to adjust machine functions, such as regulating air pressure or die gaps
