About The Position

ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION: Operate a Catenary Continuous Vulcanization (CCV) line to insulate MV Power Cables with a variety of plastic and rubber compounds. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Operate a CCV line which includes multiple Pay Offs, Accumulators, Extruders, Cure Tube Sections, Seals, and Take Ups. •Enter recipe information to insure proper temperatures, pressures, extruder output, and curing profiles are followed exactly per the engineered process. •Making product changes, compound changes and checking products to specifications. •Install tooling and adjust tooling position to insure that cable dimensions are within specifications and internal targets. •Starts machine and adjusts controls to regulate speed of wire travel and temperature of extrusion dies to ensure sheath of uniform thickness. •Changing of end seals and other line materials to insure proper machine operation and product quality. •Set up printer and insure print on the cable meets specification. •Closely monitor all process variables during operation to insure an efficient and quality product. •Perform quality checks as required to ensure wire meets UL, AEIC, ICEA, customer, and plant specifications. •Responsible for the identifying and documenting non-conforming products. •Enter production and quality data into PRT system and accurately complete all paperwork. •Clean tooling and screws making sure that there is no presence of contamination that will affect the quality of the finished cable. •Maintain a clean work area (general housekeeping). •Operate forklift to move material. •Perform other duties as directed by Supervisor. Expectations Specific to the “Floater” position: •Work a flexible schedule extending to any and all shifts employed by the company. •Train and cover vacation, sick leave, medical leaves, or other causes for any potential production equipment. •Preparation for “added” shift

Requirements

  • Read, write, and communicate in a technical environment performing mathematical calculations, understanding verbal or written instructions. Provide verbal or written information to others, work continuous shift if requested, work scheduled or unscheduled overtime if requested, maintain a good attendance and punctuality record, follow all safety rules and maintain housekeeping in area of responsibility, work well with others, and distinguish colors correctly.
  • Must be able to move about freely in a heavy industrial environment spanning six floor levels.
  • Must be able to qualify as a lift operator.
  • This position requires standing and walking for most of the shift. This position requires lifting, bending, pushing and pulling. Some pushing of reels will be necessary. Most lifting is accomplished with material handling devices, i.e. reels movers, hoists, etc. Throughout the shift, incumbent must handle reels and tooling weighing 150+ pounds or more.
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High school education or the equivalent.
