The External Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing external financial reporting to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. The position will also be responsible for technical accounting issues and lead the development and implementation of accounting policies. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the full-cycle close process, including researching accounting and SEC topics, preparing accounting position memos and drafting financial statements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Accounting Operations, FP&A and Legal. This is a hybrid position and will report to the Controller.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting
  • CPA qualification
  • Strong proven experience and knowledge with SEC and US GAAP reporting requirements
  • Experience preparing SEC reports and knowledge of XBRL tagging
  • 7+ years of related accounting experience, with a minimum of 3 years in Big 4 public accounting
  • Strong knowledge of and experience applying ASC 842 (leases), ASC 718 (stock-based compensation), ASC 230 (cash flow), ASC 280 (segment reporting), ASC 260 (EPS) and ASC 606 (Revenue)
  • Proficiency in NetSuite, Excel, and financial reporting tools
  • Strong attention to detail, ownership, and a positive attitude
  • Proven ability to research and document complex technical accounting issues
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with effective written and communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Proven ability to adapt to change, work cross-functionally, and prioritize work to meet objectives and timelines
  • Experience working in a public company environment with requirements to comply with SOX
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of our external financial reports, including SEC filings (Form 10-Q, Form 10-K, and Form 8-K) and related disclosures
  • Prepare timely and accurate external financial statements (including disclosures and footnotes)
  • Prepare quarterly and annual disclosure checklists and XBRL tagging
  • Participate in the month-end and quarter-end accounting close processes, such as stock-based compensation, debt and debt instruments and other complex areas
  • Execute all responsibilities (including preparation of workpapers) incompliance with our SOX 404 internal control framework related to technical accounting and financial reporting
  • Document and maintain internal controls and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Research, evaluate, and document technical accounting issues and the application of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Assess the impact of new and proposed accounting pronouncement and standards to ensure compliance with SEC and US GAAP reporting requirements
  • Perform accounting research for complex areas which may include stock-based compensation, leases, revenue recognition and non-standard transactions.
  • Prepare high-quality technical accounting memos
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Accounting Operations, FP&A and Legal) to provide insight and recommendations on new initiatives and related process improvements to standardize and streamline processes
  • Assist with or be responsible for other duties and ad-hoc projects as they arise
