About The Position

The Community Health Coordinator, under the direction of the Community Health Manager and Executive Consultant, coordinates Community Benefit regulatory reporting, including CBISA, HCAI, and IRS Form 990 Schedule H. This role also supports Community Health Needs Assessments and Implementation Strategies, evaluation and reporting of Community Health Investments, and other projects and tasks as assigned. This position requires strong project management and organization skills, attention to detail, and analytical thinking. The ideal candidate is proactive and able to collaborate effectively across teams and work independently, manage multiple priorities, and identify opportunities to improve workflows and processes.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work with financial reports, track financial data and evaluate metrics.
  • Ability to analyze programmatic data using Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas) and translate findings into clear summaries.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change, solve problems, and collaborate across teams and/or departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Strong training and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both oral and written.
  • Strong attention to detail, proficient organizational skills and analytical thinker.
  • Ability to rapidly assimilate and synthesize information and thrive in an evolving environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software.
  • Capacity to learn new applications, software, workflows that will enhance existing processes.
  • Strong understanding of IRS Community Benefit requirements and healthcare compliance.
  • Experience presenting complex information to multiple audiences, including leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive and accurate technical documents.
  • Knowledge of public policy, the political process, government and community affairs and event coordination. A significant understanding of community-based organizations would be an asset.
  • Understanding of partnerships with community-based organizations and public agencies to improve health outcomes.
  • Bachelor's in Public Policy or a related field
  • 2 years recent relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates quarterly and year-end data collection, data entry, review, and audit of Community Benefit reporting expenditures.
  • Works closely with Community Health Manager, Financial Reporting, Accounting, and hospital and medical foundation reporters and departments to ensure community benefit is captured accurately and consistently.
  • Develops and provides virtual and in-person training to reporters and departments about what counts as community benefit, how to report, and changes to reporting.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws to ensure adherence and compliance with community benefit regulations and guidelines.
  • Supports annual Community Benefit reporting to the California Department of Health Care Access and Information by developing reports, summarizing annual Community Health partnership data, and supporting ADA remediation and web posting.
  • Supports development of the triennial Community Health Needs Assessments and Implementation Strategies to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Represents the team and/or department in internal and external meetings related to reporting and other topics.
  • Develops reports and PowerPoint presentations for multiple audiences, including leadership, on topics related to regulatory requirements, Community Health investment outcomes, and other External Affairs priorities.
  • Completes other special projects and tasks to support ongoing projects, programs and related workflows across the External Affairs department.
  • Assists in the development and updating of standard work for the department.
  • Assists and attends department activities, including meetings and events.
