SUMMARY The after-care assistant provides quality supervision for students participating in the program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. The omission of specific statements of the duties or functions does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Provides after-school supervision for students. Checks students in and signs them out to approved adults. Observes, monitors, and participate in children’s play activities whether small group or whole group. Provides supervised playtime outside (weather permitting) to provide a sage and positive environment. Fosters and supports the student’s spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development. Efficiently redirects inappropriate student behaviors and implements the program discipline system to effectively monitor and guide proper student behavior. Communicates with the supervisor as well as parents regarding any problems that may arise during after-school care hours. Reports any problems to the supervisor and/or principal. Hours for position vary, but usually include weekday afternoons and extended summer hours.
