About The Position

CHARLOTTE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL POSITION TITLE: Extended Day Substitute Teacher REPORTS TO: Director of Extended Day FLSA: Non-Exempt HOURS: Monday – Friday Substitute shifts are generally 4 hours and begin at 1:00 or 1:30. POSITION SUMMARY: The Extended Day Substitute Teacher will work in the absence of the regular Extended Day Teacher.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work outside for prolonged periods of time in outside weather conditions such as heat, cold and rain.
  • Must be able to listen for names being called on walkie talkie and respond in a timely manner.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred.
  • Experience with children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create a nurturing environment where each child feels valued, seen and heard.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and coworkers.
  • Create a calm and quiet environment during homework time and assist/check homework assignments.
  • Prepare and serve snacks to students.
  • Ensure that children are where they need to be in a timely manner.
  • Supervise children and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Work with children to problem solve and resolve conflicts.
