Expert Witness Manager

LumenciAustin, TX
$145,000 - $195,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Expert Witness Manager is responsible for attracting, recruiting, and onboarding highly qualified expert witnesses to work with Lumenci on IP litigation, licensing, valuation, and technical disputes. The Expert Witness Manager will play a central role in strengthening Lumenci’s expert witness capability by identifying, recruiting, and managing world-class experts who support our litigation and monetization engagements. This role partners closely with Lumenci’s consulting, operations, and leadership teams to ensure we have the right experts available when needed and to identify experts who may be strong candidates for deeper, long-term engagement or full-time roles.

Requirements

  • Strategic Talent Acquisition: 8+ years of experience in high-level expert witness placement, legal recruiting, or specialized executive search. You don’t just find names; you identify world-class authorities.
  • IP Ecosystem Fluency: A deep-seated understanding of the IP litigation lifecycle—specifically the nuances of Infringement, Validity, Damages, and Licensing.
  • Technical Vetting & Rigor: The ability to look past a CV to assess an expert’s true technical depth, trial-ready credibility, and their ability to simplify complex concepts for a courtroom.
  • Architect of Growth: A proactive startup mindset. We aren't looking for a "seat filler," but a builder ready to scale our expert witness business unit into a market leader.
  • Executive Presence: Exceptional communication skills. You must be comfortable navigating conversations with academics, industry titans, and senior legal counsel.
  • Cross-Functional Synergy: Proven success collaborating with consulting, operations, and leadership teams to ensure our technical deliverables are backed by the best minds in the field.
  • Domain Exposure: Prior experience or familiarity with technical investigations, valuation, damages analysis, or patent monetization workflows.
  • Precision Under Pressure: High-level organizational prowess with an obsession for detail. You thrive in the fast-paced, high-stakes environment of litigation support where deadlines are non-negotiable.
  • Eligibility: Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Due to the nature of certain client engagements and applicable regulations, this position requires U.S. citizenship.

Conduct targeted outreach campaigns (e.g., email, professional networking platforms, referrals, events) to attract expert candidates to Lumenci. Communicate Lumenci’s services, engagement model, and expectations clearly and professionally.
  • Expert Evaluation & Onboarding Conduct structured evaluations to assess subject-matter expertise, litigation experience, communication skills, conflicts, and suitability for testimony. Coordinate the onboarding process, including documentation, non-disclosure agreements, compliance, rate structures, conflict checks, and system setup. Maintain accurate expert records and profiles in CRM and internal systems to support timely, high-quality matching.
  • Case Intake, Matching & Placement Collaborate with internal teams to understand case needs, timelines, and expert requirements. Recommend and match experts to matters, and coordinate introductions, scheduling, and briefing logistics. Track expert performance and matter outcomes to support continuous improvement in recruiting and selection.
  • Expert Relationship Management Serve as a primary point of contact for recruited experts, providing a positive and professional experience. Maintain regular communication to keep experts informed of opportunities and aligned with Lumenci’s standards. Identify experts who may be strong candidates for longer-term engagement, including potential full-time roles.
  • Recruiting Operations & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain reports and dashboards for pipeline health, time-to-fill, expert readiness, and placement quality. Help ensure that processes support obligations related to confidentiality, conflicts of interest, and legal/ethical requirements in expert engagement.
