Expert Fitter - Weld School
About The Position
NABRICO Marine Products is seeking a Safety Oriented Expert Fitter for their barge manufacturing plant in Caruthersville, MO. The Expert Fitter will be responsible for laying out, positioning, aligning, and fitting together fabricated metal parts according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches, in preparation for welding. This role also involves inspecting tack-welds for conformance to specifications, whether completed by an assigned welder or their own work. NABRICO Marine Products, part of Arcosa’s Inland Barge Group, is a leading manufacturer of barges for U.S. inland waterways, including dry cargo barges (flat-deck and hopper) and tank barges for various liquid cargoes. They are also the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers and provide a full line of deck hardware to the marine industry.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of structural fitter experience
- Ability to work with a tape measure and determine center point
- Able to perform basic math calculations using fractions; carpenter's math
- Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints
- All Fitters have to pass a tack welding test; six-part practical test using an oxy-fuel cutting torch
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints or other specifications
- May operate overhead crane
- Measure to specifications
- Identify parts for assembly in proper order
- Cut and wash with torch (Oxy Fuel)
- Tack weld pieces together
