About The Position

NABRICO Marine Products is searching for a Safety Oriented Expert Fitter in our
Caruthersville, MO barge manufacturing plant. As an Expert Fitter at NABRICO
Marine Products, you will lay out, position, align, and fit together fabricated
parts of metal according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and
sketches in preparation for welding. You will also inspect tack-welds completed
by the assigned welder, or in some cases their own tack welding work, for
conformance to specifications. Our assemblers get to see what they have built on
waterways across the country.

NABRICO Marine Products, is part of Arcosa’s Inland Barge Group, and is a
leading manufacturer of barges used to transport cargo on U.S. inland waterways.
NABRICO Marine Products manufactures dry cargo barges, including flat-deck and
hopper barges, that are used to transport a variety of products including grain,
coal, and aggregates. Arcosa Marine Products also manufactures tank barges that
carry petroleum, fertilizer, ethanol, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes. It is
the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers used primarily
on grain barges. Additionally, Arcosa Marine Products provides a full line of
deck hardware to the marine industry, including hatches, castings, and winches
for towboats and dock facilities.

Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of structural fitter experience
• Ability to work with a tape measure and determine center point
• Able to perform basic math calculations using fractions; carpenter's math
• Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints
• All Fitters have to pass a tack welding test; six-part practical test using an oxy-fuel cutting torch
• May require working above ground
• Must be able to climb ladders or stairs to reach objects; comfortable with heights
• May require working in narrow or confined work spaces for extended periods of time
• May require extensive kneeling, bending, walking and/or standing for long periods of time
• Must be able to perform fitting and welding work while wearing all required personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a filtering face piece and /or tight fitting respirator
• Willing to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints or other specifications
• May operate overhead crane
• Measure to specifications
• Identify parts for assembly in proper order
• Cut and wash with torch (Oxy Fuel)
• Tack weld pieces together
