Job Summary The Expert Field Service Technician is responsible for safely initiating and executing field service activities at the Marathon Galveston Bay Refinery in Texas City, TX. This is a fully onsite role, with the employee reporting to the refinery daily, Monday–Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with one weekend per month (approximately four hours). This role supports advanced and multi/complex systems, proactively troubleshoots equipment, performs preventive maintenance, and ensures environmental compliance related to air emissions control systems. The technician will work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong, professional customer relationships.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–7 years of technical or field service experience preferred.
  • Must possess a valid TWIC at time of hire and be able to maintain TWIC eligibility throughout employment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain authorization to drive a company vehicle.

  • Experience working in refinery, chemical plant, or industrial environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily monitoring of air emissions on Xylem carbon canister systems throughout the refinery.
  • Document daily monitoring results using customer tracking systems via laptop and handheld devices.
  • Exchange exhausted carbon canisters using powered industrial trucks (forklifts).
  • Vacuum spent carbon material using a Hurricane vacuum system as needed.
  • Refill canisters with fresh activated carbon.
  • Unload deliveries of fresh activated carbon super sacks from 18-wheeler flatbeds.
  • Reload spent carbon super sacks for offsite transport and reactivation.
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of mechanical systems.
  • Identify, anticipate, and correct safety issues related to both company-owned and customer-owned equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment.
  • Protect company property and equipment.
  • Work independently with little to no supervision while collaborating effectively with site personnel.
  • Demonstrate accountability, professionalism, and a strong safety-first mindset.
