About The Position

We are seeking an experienced candidate with significant welding experience (MIG/TIG hand-welding, grinding, fitting, flame-cutting, material forming, welding and joining metal components, fabricating metal products. Portioner welding - pipe and flange welding. Reading blueprints). This position is NOT a training role. Qualified candidates should exhibit a positive personality, ability to work in a team, customer & goal-oriented work ethic, and the drive to deliver high quality work.

Requirements

  • Must have 3+ years of related experience and/or training or equivalent of education & experience
  • Must have the knowledge and ability to pipe/flange/position weld.
  • Must be able to identify specified parts to build the product.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
  • Must be able to follow instructions.
  • Demonstrable ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Ability to demonstrate safe work practices.
  • Must have great communication skills.
  • Must be able to regularly stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be willing to work overtime with short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Safe work habits, equipment, tools, environment.
  • Utilize MIG and TIG welding on a positioner to weld various large components together to make various valves and assemblies.
  • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to welded metals completing electrical circuits.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, ability to use straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and rules.
  • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisor.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion or material.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to ensure conformance with specifications and or drawing.
  • Operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Ability to connect regulator valves to activate and adjust gas flow and pressure so that desired flames are obtained.
  • Mark or tag material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required.
  • Prepare all material surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, paint or other foreign matter.
  • Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metals.
  • Position and secure work pieces, using hoists, cranes, wire and banding machines or hand tools.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools.
  • Check grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometers, calipers, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Other related duties assigned by Supervisor.
