Experienced Software Configuration Management Engineer Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an Experienced Software Configuration Management (SCM) Engineer to support our product development team in Richardson TX. The SCM engineer will support the flight and training system software team for the establishment, upgrade, and sustainment of US Navy programs. Position Responsibilities Supports the software configuration within a given scope Participate in all stages of the software development life cycle. Coordinate software deliveries with software engineering team, security and customer locations. Moderate Software Review Board (SRB) meetings and providing agendas and minute Support the execution of small to medium projects including schedules, budgets and progress reporting to ensure implementations that are on time, within budget and meet quality objectives Analyze end users business processes to provide solutions to facilitate desired objectives Meet with end users to define requirements for software applications Leads the evaluation of moderately complex commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products and current Boeing products by testing and benchmarking for solutions to requirements Utilize data gathered from customers to assist in the definition of Configuration and Data Management requirements for product hardware, software and engineering design data systems Performs integration, routine analysis and resolution of issues with software configuration Work under general direction to coordinate and conduct product and subsystem level technical design reviews and audits for new and derivative products Configuration Management (CM): CM is a technical management process whose functions span horizontally across the Boeing stovepiped organizational structure. Where stovepiped means, teams are operating independently with limited communication or collaboration between them. The Special Projects Dallas (SPD) CM Plan for defense projects will implement EIA-649-1 and will be tailored to each contract or statement of work as appropriate. The CM team uses software and processes to manage, identify, control, status, verify and audit compliance with program/project requirements of all deliverable hardware, software and contractual data over the lifecycle of the project. CM functions must be in place and operational at contract award and continue through the period of performance or end of contract whichever comes first. The five functions of CM identified in EIA-649 and EIA-649-1: • Configuration Planning and Management • Configuration Identification • Configuration Change Management • Configuration Status Accounting • Configuration Verification and Audit Beyond the five functions, CM’s primary purpose is to serve the larger interests of the program or organization by providing an overall view of the current state of the program or organization using information obtained from across the stovepipes and contained within the CM System. Tools Used Outlook, Skype/Microsoft Teams, WebEx, Voice Telephone, and verbal talk for routine intra-team communications Confluence for documentation repository Artifactory, ClearCase, GitLab artifact’s repository Jira, ClearQuest, and GitLab as our Project Management Tool DOORs for requirements management Software for Training Systems and Mission Systems is developed primarily in Linux, using C++, Java, and scripting Eclipse is the primary software editing tool Windchill® Process Library as a Process Management tool Compact Process Reference (CPR) tool as a Process Management tool This position will be 100% onsite in Richardson, TX.
