About The Position

Experienced Senior Accountant - GovCon (Deltek Costpoint) Cherry Bekaert, a full-service accounting and advisory firm, is seeking an Experienced Senior Accountant to join the Finance and Accounting Outsourcing Practice as part of its Government Contracting Practice area. This position is critical in supporting multiple clients with all facets of operational accounting (GL, AP, AR, projects, payroll, and reconciliations) to include assisting in the preparation of the monthly financial package (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss Statement, etc.). On an annual basis, responsibilities include 1099 preparation, assisting with year-end financial statement audit preparation, and tax preparation information support. Experienced Senior Accountant must be proficient in the use of automated accounting system software and spreadsheet applications, particularly Deltek Costpoint, and have Project Accounting experience. CPA license preferred. Applicant must be US citizen. Highly competitive salary and total compensation package.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or degree in a related field combined with relevant accounting experience.
• 3-5 years of accounting experience working with various ERP systems.
• Proficiency in the use of automated accounting system software and spreadsheet applications, and Deltek Costpoint, specifically with Projects and customer invoicing with different types of governments contracts (e.g., CPFF, T&M, FFP).
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactive, adheres to deadlines, responsive to client and management requirements.
• Extremely detail orientated with strong analytical skills.
• Good time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of Accounting Principles (GAAP) and government contracting regulations (FAR).
• Demonstrated ability to manage work on multiple engagements with competing schedules and deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully collaborate and communicate with other team members to achieve successful results.
• Advanced understanding of general and subsidiary ledgers and financial statements.
• Exhibits strong ethics, positive attitude, and calm demeanor under pressure.
• Ability to be flexible and work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Prepares day-to-day and month-end close entries including revenue, payroll, prepaid expenses, unbilled accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
• Prepares complex reconciliations for necessary balance sheet accounts and various other general ledger accounts, as needed.
• Assists with the month-end and year-end closing process.
• Develops and maintains an understanding of the accounting operations within each assigned client and obtains a working knowledge of the client’s accounting software.
• Assists external auditors and tax accountants with preparing schedules, providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures, and preparing additional data.
• Assists in the preparation of the client’s year-end 1099 submissions.
• Recommends, designs, and implements department controls and procedures.
• Communicates with clients on an ongoing basis.
• Reviews and supervises staff accountant’s monthly work, including but not limited to, journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Coaches and mentors Staff Accountants through project management
• Disburses client requests to team members to manage deadlines
