General Description : The Transport Registered Nurse (RN) provides quality nursing care, treatment, and stabilization of critically ill patients, in conjunction with fellow team members, during transport. The Transport RN will oversee all aspects of patient care during transport, and is responsible for organizing, implementing, and coordinating patient care as directed by the Physician for the purpose of stabilization of the transfer. In addition to caring for the patients in the pre-hospital environment, the transport RN will be part of the care delivery to the patients at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital during non-transport times. The Transport RN will assist in the delivery of care in the NICU, PICU, Pediatric ED, or any other area that requires the expertise of the pediatric care nurse, noting that the Transport RN’s first responsibility is to transport, and they must be made available to leave the facility within target timelines. Outreach activities are also an integral part of the Transport RN role. These may include education of regional providers, public relations activities, and other quality activities.
