About The Position

Provides assistance and direction to the Expeditors on the shift in the performance of daily tasks and activities. Performs all activities related to the shipping and receiving material handling functions for the company, providing supplies and raw material to the production line, loading finished product onto trucks for shipments and unloading incoming raw material and supplies, completing inspections, paperwork, and maintaining accurate inventory records in compliance with all safety, food safety, quality, SQF, GMP and USDA requirements.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency is normally required.
  • Previous forklift experience is required.
  • Must possess good verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as packing slips, bills of material, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Intermediate computer proficiency is required. Must be proficient with Excel and Outlook.
  • Must have accurate basic math skills.
  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the partner is frequently required to stand for extended periods; walk; sit and talk or hear. The partner is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, with repetitive motions of hands, arms and shoulders. The partner must regularly lift up to 40# and periodically lift and/or move up to 50 #. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, far vision and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous material handling, shipping and/or receiving experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience with MAS 500 or related software is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review the trucker appointment schedule and prioritize work activities for the shift to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Assign tasks to Expeditors.
  • Conduct a daily walk-through of the production areas, taking a visual inventory to determine supply needs, including boxes, salt, film, labels, pallets, tear sheets, collagen, etc.
  • Complete appropriate documentation on the Product Transfer Log for all refrigerated/edible raw material and finished goods.
  • Receive inbound blend shipments, entering vat label date, time, license number, lot number, gross and net tare weight, and vat temperature information into the Blend Receiving Log.
  • Receive inbound supply shipments; unload trucks and deliver product to the appropriate locations.
  • Complete Raw Material Inspections of all inbound shipments.
  • Check received items to verify the correct product and numbers were delivered, and were received undamaged; enter product information, date and quantity, batch number information, etc. from packing slip onto the Receiving Log as necessary.
  • Confirm exceptions and unusual deliveries; track the order back to the originator internally to verify.
  • Load trucks properly for shipment of finished product per the Bill of Lading, determining what to ship and monitoring the code dates, item dates, number of full and partial pallets.
  • Ensure the correct paperwork is completed and accompanies each shipment.
  • Operate the baler to compact corrugated cardboard for recycling.
  • Monitor the recycling gaylords for pick up.
  • Transfer finished goods from the South Wing cooler to the North Wing cooler if at capacity to avoid cooler overload.
  • Consolidate all #2 product at the North Wing warehouse.
  • Conduct physical inventory of the warehouse; complete and submit the appropriate paperwork.
  • Verify forklift equipment is in good operating condition prior to operating at the start of the shift; follows all established forklift safety procedures.
  • Perform sanitation duties that include but not limited to, the following: sweep the palletizing and shipping coolers; clean walls, door frames, and support beams as time allows; mop and straighten both coolers; and vacuum behind the forklift bump guards along racking.
  • Promote a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as required.
  • Comply with all established safety policies and procedures; promote and maintain safety awareness and identify and resolve potential safety issues.
  • Support the Lean Manufacturing initiatives of the company.
  • Assists with rework activities as needed.
  • Provide backup assistance to Expeditors as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
