About The Position

The Expanded Learning Time (ELT) Summer Group Leader provides high-level instructional support to Site Coordinators, ensuring the effective delivery and development of specialized summer programs for the district’s students. This role is responsible for enhancing the educational experience for students and staff by managing daily schedules and facilitating curriculum activities. Key responsibilities include applying knowledge of healthy social and emotional development to support all learners, maintaining a safe environment, and ensuring clear communication between staff, families, and colleagues. The Summer Group Leader serves as a vital resource for students, requiring exceptional problem-solving skills, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. This commitment aligns with Framingham Public Schools’ high expectations for achievement, equal access to culturally responsive, quality instruction, academic proficiency for all students, and a sense of belonging for all subgroups within our schools.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be current employees of Framingham Public Schools or the Expanded Learning Time program.
  • A high school diploma is required; additional post-secondary education credits in a related field are preferred.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience as an educator in a school or community-based setting is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of effective youth development and Out-of-School Time (OST) principles, practices, and trends is preferred.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written forms; effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, parents, and the general public.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret professional periodicals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to inform decisions for student success.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, caregivers, staff, and the community.
  • Work with individuals and families of diverse backgrounds in an equitable, inclusive, and culturally proficient manner.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance to ensure consistent department operations and district-wide support.
  • React professionally and objectively to unpredictable situations, such as behavioral issues or environmental changes, while maintaining a proactive, reflective, and solution-focused approach.
  • Work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage several projects simultaneously while maintaining strong organizational skills to balance the demands of a multi-tasking position.
  • Perform duties with awareness of district requirements, state and federal laws, and Framingham Public Schools policies.
  • Maintain appropriate confidential records in accordance with FERPA/603 CMR 28.00.
  • Apply knowledge of current research and theory in education.
  • Demonstrate strong teaching, coaching, and leadership skills in a team setting.
  • Operate and acquire skills in computer software, including Google Workspace, and use instructional technology appropriately to facilitate learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate strategically with the Program Coordinator to design, develop, and refine high-quality out-of-school time programming that meets district standards.
  • Assist in monitoring student attendance and academic performance, utilizing data to support student growth and program efficacy.
  • Provide essential support to team members to ensure the maintenance of a safe, productive, and efficient environment for all staff and students.
  • Assists in documenting program incidents by preparing comprehensive reports in accordance with district protocols and safety regulations.
  • Assist with delivering high-quality academic and enrichment curricula, ensuring activities are engaging and educationally sound.
  • Motivate and mentor students to establish and achieve rigorous academic and personal objectives, fostering a culture of high expectations.
  • Participate in all required professional development and specialized training sessions to ensure instructional readiness and alignment with district goals.
  • Create and facilitate opportunities for students to strengthen the connection between current academic success and future college or career pathways.
  • Cultivate an intentional culture of accomplishment, belonging, and mutual respect within the program community.
  • Build and sustain professional relationships with students, families, volunteers, and community partners to enhance program support.
  • Facilitate the successful integration and achievement of students within inclusion programming, ensuring equitable access for all learners.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
