Exhibit Installation Technician – Trade Show Field Role

Trade Show Savvy LLCGrapevine, TX
$23 - $34

About The Position

You are Red Door Three's person on the ground at trade shows across the country. When a client's exhibit booth needs to go up in a convention center in Las Vegas, Chicago, or Orlando, you're the one who makes it happen — supervising the labor crew, verifying everything matches the floor plan, and fixing whatever needs fixing before the client walks in. Our clients are fascinating companies: dental technology manufacturers, aircraft parts suppliers, industrial plastics firms, fuel measurement companies, tactical communications specialists. Each one has a unique exhibit, a unique setup, and a unique way they want to show up in the world. You'll know all of them by heart. When you're not on the road at a trade show or at our Andover, KS warehouse, you're in our Grapevine, TX warehouse — keeping inventory organized, repairing crates and exhibit components, and making sure every shipment goes out show-ready.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated hands-on mechanical, carpentry, fabrication, or repair experience — tell us what you've built or fixed
  • Exceptionally reliable — you are the last line of defense before a client's exhibit hits the show floor
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs and sustain physical activity for a full work day in dock and convention environments
  • Willingness to travel 40–60%, including weekends and multi-day trips
  • Strong verbal communication — you'll represent us face-to-face with clients at major trade shows

Nice To Haves

  • Background in carpentry, electrical, AV, rigging, or general fabrication
  • Forklift or aerial lift certification
  • Experience working with union labor in convention centers
  • Familiarity with exhibit freight, crating, and logistics

Responsibilities

  • Supervise installation and dismantle (I&D) of client exhibit booths — directing show labor, verifying against floor plans, problem-solving in real time
  • Serve as the on-site client contact during move-in and move-out — calm, capable, and communicative
  • Perform hands-on repairs and field adjustments when (not if) something needs fixing
  • Coordinate with GCs, convention center crews, freight carriers, and union labor
  • Document the booth with photos and keep the home team informed throughout
  • Represent Red Door Three in a way that makes clients want to call us again

  • Prep and pack exhibits for upcoming shows — precision here prevents emergencies at the venue
  • Receive and log inbound freight; keep storage areas clean and organized
  • Build deep knowledge of each client's exhibit — its quirks, what wears out, what to check
  • Identify components needing replacement before they become a show-floor crisis
