About The Position

Performs cardiac rehabilitation functions to facilitate patient cardiac fitness. Participates in process of assisting the patient with cardiac risk factor reduction. Compensation Pay Range: $20.05 - $28.00 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1) Patient Care: a) Instructs community exercise programs in land, aquatic, and virtual based classes b) Instructs personal training sessions c) Screens community participants for safety/appropriateness for community exercise program d) Provides education to community participants within scope of position e) Monitors class volumes and alerts community programs manager if too high or low f) Inspires participant loyalty to programs via class instruction techniques 2) Environment and Department Maintenance/Infection Control a. Assists in the maintenance of the department’s overall physical environment b. Maintains practices according to infection control guidelines for the department c. Monitors pool chemistry per departmental guidelines as applicable to area d. Works with Rehab Team members to ensure all equipment is cleaned before and after each use 3) Clerical Duties a. Performs clerical duties to assist with daily operations of the department including: i. Scanning community participant documents including MD clearance, health history, participant waiver ii. Scheduling appointments as applicable iii. Assists with Customer Collection functionality in Workday as appropriate iv. Answering phones v. Calling patients as directed vi. Photocopying and filing community programs paperwork vii. Faxing viii. Data Collection ix. Relaying messages to community programs manager and receptionist 4) Communication a) Communicates effectively with staff, peers, colleagues, patients, and family members in all manners of communication (written, verbal, non-verbal). b) Appropriately uses all forms of South Shore Health communication in accordance with standard practices c) Responds in a timely manner when feedback is requested 5) Educational Activities a) Serves as mentor to new community programs staff b) Actively participates in department projects/events/activities including program marketing c) Actively promotes rehabilitation services to frontline colleagues, patients, and families d) Serves as ambassador for department to visitors (tours/observation of patient care) e) Assists with continuous Quality Improvement activities, as directed f) Takes responsibility for continuing professional development education 6) Technology and Learning a) Possesses a willingness and ability to learn and utilize new technology and procedures that continue to develop in their role and throughout the organization b) Embraces technological advances that allow us to communicate information effectively and efficiently based on role c) Accurately uses software applications as needed for job performance 7) Professional Behaviors a) Manage a professional and appropriate manner of conversation b) Maintain composure during stressful situations c) Effective interpersonal and communication skills d) Complete clinical and nonclinical tasks as well as assigned activities according to policies, practice guidelines and assigned deadlines e) Utilizes critical thinking and problem solving in day to day operations as well as in emergent situations f) Communicate appropriately and effectively following chain of command g) Demonstrate dependability and flexibility in meeting scheduling needs of the department. Requirements

  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)
  • INSTRUCTOR- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise-related field preferred
  • Minimum of one year previous healthcare/exercise experience preferred
  • Previous coursework and/or participation in work or volunteer experience in the area of health, fitness, or athletics
