About The Position

The Exercise Specialist collaborates with registered nurses to deliver the Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program. This role involves providing treatment and education to patients in areas of deficit to assist them in safely regaining functional abilities and adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle. Additionally, the specialist is responsible for conducting and supervising Cardiac and Pulmonary Maintenance Exercise Program classes.

Requirements

• Four years of formal training or education beyond the high school level (e.g., Bachelors Degree)
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification, or equivalent course credentialed by American Heart Association
• Must possess knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience as an Exercise Specialist preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct the Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation Program
• Provide treatment and education in areas of deficit to assist patients in safely regaining functional abilities and adopting a heart-healthy lifestyle
• Conduct and supervise Cardiac and Pulmonary Maintenance Exercise Program classes
• Complete Cardiac Rehabilitation Program evaluations
• Document patient data
• Demonstrate group exercise leadership skills
• Provide group and individual exercise education
• Clinically monitor patients
• Provide patients with a home exercise program (HEP)
