The role will have an impact on patient satisfaction by providing patients with a program that can increase their exertion level and lead to a healthy lifestyle, working as part of the Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab team.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology
Basic Computer Skills
EPIC training
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors, and fellow members of the hospital team
Vaccination against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment

Nice To Haves

ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiologist Certification
At least one year of exercise stress testing, or cardiac rehab

Responsibilities

Evaluates patient’s stress test to develop an individualized exercise plan
Recommends exercise plan and receives approval from Cardiologist or Pulmonologist
Reviews exercise plan and instructs patient on the proper use of exercise equipment
Reviews rate of exertion scale with patient and explains how each level of the scale is defined
Monitors the patient during their exercise routine, periodically checking blood pressure, heart rate and oxygen saturation
Recommends the proper exercise routine for the patient to continue at home upon discharge from program
Maintains proper function and cleanliness of equipment
Assists with emergency situation when they occur
