The Endocrinology Department's Smart Gyms and Wellness programs represent one of the most innovative and forward-thinking initiatives at Cleveland Clinic. With a focus on technology, preventive care, and interdisciplinary collaboration, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the transformation of chronic disease management and community health. The team operates through a multidisciplinary model, partnering with community members and a dedicated endocrinology team-including Exercise Physiologists (EPs), Licensed Social Workers (LSWs), physicians, and leadership. As an Exercise Physiologist in this department, you will develop exercise prescriptions and oversee exercise progression in patients with cardiovascular diseases in a rehabilitative setting. Your primary focus will be on exercise, gym supervision and training with smart gym equipment and collaboration with the Cardiac Rehabilitation's interdisciplinary care team that focuses on health and fitness assessments, risk screening, body composition evaluation and medical weight management intervention. A caregiver in this position works part-time, Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, plus Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm as needed. This role requires ability to travel locally to Main Campus, Langston Hughes Community Health Center, Lutheran Hospital, and Euclid Hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in an exercise-related field
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology
  • One year of experience with cardiac stress testing

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance.
  • Provide exercise prescriptions for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen.
  • Update exercise prescriptions according to patient response.
  • Implement concepts of cardiac secondary prevention.
  • Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
  • Appropriately respond to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Provide exercise information to patients, peers and the community through public speaking and education classes.
