As an Exercise Physiologist, you will develop individualized exercise prescriptions and oversee exercise progression for patients with cardiovascular disease in a cardiac rehabilitation setting. You will provide direct patient care to individuals recovering from open-heart surgery and percutaneous coronary interventions, delivering high-quality support across both acute and outpatient phases of recovery. In this role, you will collaborate within a multi-site organization to care for complex patients who have undergone advanced cardiac procedures, ensuring safe and effective rehabilitation. This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working shifts varying between 6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Caregivers in this role will cover both Mercy and North Canton locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in exercise-related field
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

  • Background in Cardiac Rehabilitation
  • Experience with Inpatient Care (Post-Surgery Patients, Monitoring Vitals, etc.)
  • Working Knowledge of EKG Rhythms
  • Understanding of Telemetry Monitoring (Tele)

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance.
  • Provide exercise prescriptions for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen.
  • Update exercise prescriptions according to patient response.
  • Implement concepts of cardiac secondary prevention.
  • Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise.
  • Appropriately respond to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Provide exercise information to patients, peers and the community through public speaking and education classes.
