About The Position

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Physiologists who have expertise in cardiovascular specialty areas. Their role will integrate the components of clinician, teacher, consultant, and researcher, using cardiovascular expertise. Assists with the orientation of new participants, responsible for the initial assessment of the participant and assists in the development of the plan of care with other staff members. " Supervises exercise session, monitoring participants for inappropriate responses to exercise. Responsible for blood pressure checks on all participants pre and post exercise and watching for abnormal responses on the telemetry device. Assesses participants pre, during and post exercise making appropriate referrals and/or recommendations to the participant, other staff, and Medical Director. " Reports any significant participant conditions (dysrhythmias, abnormal blood pressure responses, change in participant's status, etc.) to the physician supervising the program. Initiates ACLS measures and/or emergency care according to hospital policy. Charts and documents initial assessment and daily participant information and progress. " Prepares and adjusts individual exercise prescription in accordance with GXT and physician recommendations for participants. " Performs exercises with participants. Demonstrates correct body position and proper use of equipment to prevent injury and adhere to exercise prescription. Terminates exercise as needed. " Leads participant education sessions in areas of expertise. " Checks emergency supplies and equipment for proper function and adequate supply on a regular basis. Participates in emergency drills and mock codes on a routine basis giving appropriate feedback and constructive criticism where appropriate. " Identifies dysrhythmias accurately and correlates appropriate interventions. " Interprets and operates twelve-lead electrocardiogram and/or monitoring and telemetry monitoring equipment. " Assists with emergency care according to standing orders. " Reviews participants' progress with other staff at weekly staff meetings. " Plans and educates participants regarding home exercise programs and use of equipment. " Provides educational programs for participants in area of expertise. " Keeps current in cardiac rehabilitation through continuing education conferences and literature. " Attends all scheduled staff meetings.

Requirements

  • B.S. required, M.S. preferred
  • 24 months recent & relevant experience.
  • Certification in cardiovascular clinical area preferred (i.e. Exercise Test Technologist , Exercise Specialist)
  • Current AHA-BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Desire to work within a comprehensive health care team.
