Role Summary The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the firm’s global finance function as well as core back‑office, business management, and administrative operations. The CFO will partner closely with the CEO, CIO, and business heads to drive financial discipline, strategic decision‑making, scalable operating infrastructure, and long‑term value creation across the enterprise. This role will lead financial strategy for a complex, multi‑product asset management platform (~$320B AUM), ensuring best‑in‑class financial controls, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and data‑driven insight. A critical mandate of the role is to lead enterprise‑wide modernization, including AI‑enabled finance, data, and operational transformation, to enhance transparency, scalability, and competitive advantage. This role reports to the CEO. This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City office.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
  • Proven CFO or senior finance leadership experience
  • Deep understanding of asset management economics
  • Demonstrated experience leading AI‑enabled transformation
  • Strong strategic orientation
  • Track record of managing complex, regulated environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance function, including financial planning & analysis (FP&A), accounting, controllership, treasury, tax, and financial reporting across legal entities and investment vehicles.
  • Oversee financial back‑office and administrative functions, including fund administration oversight, operations, procurement, and shared services, ensuring scale, efficiency, and strong vendor governance.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to executive leadership, providing forward‑looking financial insights to support growth initiatives, product expansion, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Drive enterprise financial strategy, including long‑range planning, budgeting, profitability analysis, and scenario modeling across asset classes and distribution channels.
  • Lead regulatory, audit, and compliance support from a financial perspective, ensuring adherence to global regulatory standards applicable to asset managers.
  • Own management reporting and performance measurement, delivering clear, actionable insights to the Management Committee and Board.
  • Advance AI and data transformation initiatives within finance and operations, including automation, predictive analytics, real‑time reporting, and AI‑enabled decision support.
  • Modernize finance and back‑office technology platforms, partnering with Technology and Operations to implement scalable, cloud‑based and AI‑driven solutions.
  • Oversee cost management and operating leverage, balancing investment in growth with disciplined expense governance.
  • Support M&A, strategic partnerships, and new product launches, including financial due diligence, integration planning, and post‑acquisition value realization.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing leadership team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across functions.
  • Act as a trusted interface with external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, rating agencies, and key service providers.
